Festival Information

The Dislocation Festival is an annual exploration of experimental music and film hosted by The School of Unthink. This year it will take place in Luton on the 21st and 22nd of August 2009. The festival seeks to introduce (and reintroduce) people to an exciting variety of new musics and film over two events on successive days.
Both events will be held at The Old Shop, a dedicated arts space run by the organisers of the Filmstock festival. The Friday will see an afternoon and evening of short and feature films, live soundtracks, and musical performances; the Saturday is an all-day musical marathon featuring local and not-no-local acts.
The festival will also host the festival shop, selling CDs by artists featured at the festival, zines, second hand CDs, and the Dislocation Cake Stall.
The full film line up has now been announced. The announcement of the musical acts is ongoing; the final line up confirmation and programme will be published on the 1st of August.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at £7.50 for a festival pass, or £5 for each individual event. All monies made at the festival will in the first instance given to the artists involved, and in the second invested into the organisation of next year’s festival. Each ticket sold will directly contribute to the musicians and filmmakers who strive to keep alive a vibrant and stimulating experimental art form, and to those who try and ensure the variety and diversity of Luton’s cultural scene.
